Provision of 69 escalators by KONE for eight stations of the new S2 metro line
KONE is a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry. KONE recently won an order to provide a series of vertical transportation solutions. These solutions play an effective role in making people’s commute easier for the new S2 subway line in Nanjing city railway in eastern China. The order includes the delivery of 69 KONE TransitMaster 140 escalators at eight stations.
Expected to be completed and operational in 2025, the new S2 metro line is expected to play a key role in creating regional integration between the provincial capital of Jiangsu, Nanjing, and the city of Ma’anshan in the neighboring province. By connecting two different provinces, the new metro line fosters stronger cross-border ties, in addition to the city buses that already serve the various towns and cities along the route.
“KONE is proud to participate in an outstanding infrastructure project of strategic importance to the Nanjing metropolitan area and the neighboring Anhui province,” said Joe Bao, KONE’s executive vice president.
The main design goal of our technology is to handle the most demanding public transport scenarios, which is why our escalators are particularly suited to the diverse environments on the new S2 metro line.
Nanjing Metro Construction Company is the developer of this subway line and JSTI GROUP designed its architecture.
