When Hyundai Elevator moved its headquarters to the Chungju Smart Campus in 2022, it announced that it would install a solar power generation facility with an annual output of 6 megawatts. The company’s goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030.
Now, after two years, Hyundai has achieved 9% more than its initial goal in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Hyundai Elevator plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 71% by 2040 and to replace 100% of the company’s electricity consumption with renewable energy by 2050.

The company expanded its solar power generation facilities to parking lots and canopies and increased its annual production from 6 MW to 7.4 MW. This electricity is enough to meet the needs of 2,543 households of four people in one year. Also, it organizes annual energy saving campaigns and has changed its employees’ cars into environmentally friendly cars.
Cho Jae-cheon, the company’s CEO, said, “I am pleased that the energy saving efforts of the company and its employees have resulted in a 51 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.”
