According to Financial Express news agency, Indian Railways (IR) has made a significant effort to increase passenger comfort and accessibility in the first quarter of 2024 by installing elevators and escalators at Indian Railways stations.
Based on the investigations; The number of elevators installed by June 2024 reached 66, which is an increase of 114.4% compared to 27 elevators installed in the same period in 2023.
Also, the number of escalators installed in June 2023 was about 18 units, which increased to 60 units in June 2024, which shows a growth of 233.3% in the installation of elevators and escalators in Indian railway stations.
These measures are part of the Indian Railways’ continuous efforts to improve passenger accessibility and comfort, and have helped with the installation of elevators and escalators at Indian Railways stations.
