Fujitec India, a subsidiary of Fujitec Corporation, has received an order for elevators for the Chennai Metro Project. This is the first order that Fujitec has received for a metro project in India. In India’s major urban areas, population growth has exacerbated traffic congestion, prompting the Indian government to advance its planned rail and other public transport infrastructure. The Chennai Metro Phase 2 project, which follows the already completed Phase 1 project, will create a north-south and east-west rail network across the city of Chennai.

For the Chennai Metro Rail Project (Corridor 3 and 5), Fujitec will deliver a total of 239 elevators across 54 railway stations. The Chennai Metro India elevators to be installed will be equipped with advanced features that provide “safe and reliable” support for vertical movements at railway stations that provide horizontal connections.

The elevators to be delivered will be manufactured and supplied at Fujitec India’s elevator factory located near Chennai. The order is expected to be completed by September 2028.
